“Fight & Character” – Poch Grasps For Positives After Watford Shambles

|

Tottenham Hotspur were back in Premier League action on Saturday afternoon as we welcomed Watford to White Hart Lane. The aim was simple, get back on track after some very disappointing results ahead of the October international break.

It was sadly, another disappointing day for Spurs as the performance was pretty woeful and even though we had more of the ball, we didn’t actually do an awful lot with it.

Chasing the game as we were after Watford took the sixth minute lead, I suppose the positive is that the team battled on until the end and got the leveller through Dele Alli in the 86th minute, but the main feeling after that has to be relief rather than anything else.

Something has gone wrong somewhere and it doesn’t appear to be changing.

Speaking to the BBC following the fulltime whistle, manager Mauricio Pochettino said of the game.

“I feel well – good not great – because I saw the team fight and have character. It wasn’t a great game but I think we did enough to score and maybe win the game. I am happy with the way the team showed character so it means that the only way we improve is to work hard.”
