Explained: Why has Luke Amos made only one appearance for Queens Park Rangers since August?

|

Luke Amos was regularly playing for Queens Park Rangers upon his arrival from Tottenham Hotspur, but the 22-year-old hasn’t featured for nearly a month – Amos’ last appearance for the Hoops came against Luton Town on September 14 and is his only Championship outing since August.

Amos was on the treatment table for QPR’s 3-1 defeat to Swansea City on August 21, and missed their 3-1 win over Wigan Athletic (August 24) & 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday (August 31) too. He returned for the Hoops’ 3-2 win over Luton the following month but has been out of the matchday squad ever since.

A hamstring injury kept Amos out of QPR’s 2-1 win over Millwall (September 21), 2-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion (September 28), 3-0 defeat to Cardiff City (October 2) and 4-2 win over Blackburn Rovers (October 5). The former England u18 international has been tipped to return after the October international break, however.

In August, a six-week layout was mentioned and quickly played down after scans revealed less damage than what was first feared. But Amos clearly wasn’t 100% when he returned in September and it’s cost him an extra month to recover. Whether he’ll back in the squad to face Hull City on October 19 remains to be seen.
