Explained: What’s the latest on Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Vincent Janssen?

|

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou is one of many players expected to leave Tottenham this summer after struggling for form and playing time. The 24-year-old has been on the periphery under Mauricio Pochettino and will be sold if a club meets his £10m asking price. Unfortunately, Spurs haven’t received any offers.

Vincent Janssen is in a similar situation. The Dutch international has made just four appearances in all competitions since May 2017 and was exiled from the first-team last season. He’s out of contract in 2020 and is likely to be sold rather than released on a free transfer next year, but clubs aren’t biting.

Pochettino recently told Football.London that the pair could stay and be a part of the Tottenham first-team if no clubs make an approach, so there’s the possibility that N’Koudou and Janssen will return to the first-team if they aren’t sold within the next ten days.

He said: “N’Koudou and Vincent Janssen they deal with the club. After ten days after we play Manchester United and Juventus when we come back to London if they are there, they are going to be in a normal way with the team.” With Fernando Llorente potentially being re-signed, this revelation from Pochettino won’t go down well.

Tottenham could end up with the same strikeforce as last season despite having three months to strengthen in the summer transfer window. N’Koudou and Janssen may not see much game time in 2019/20 unless injuries strike, however, so it’s in their best interest to find suitors before August.
