Explained: Tottenham exit couldn’t have gone worse for Georges-Kevin N’Koudou

|

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou joined AS Monaco on loan in January after suffering from a lack of playing time at Tottenham. The 24-year-old had made just three appearances in all competitions this season before making the switch to the Stade Louis II, but his temporary stay in France could not have gone worse.

N’Koudou has amassed just 20 minutes of football for Monaco, spending the majority of the campaign sidelined with a thigh injury. The French wide-man joined on January 31 and made his debut in a 2-1 win over Toulouse on February 2, coming off the bench in the 77th minute.

His second Monaco appearance was a brief cameo in injury time in a 2-2 draw with Montpellier eight days later. His last outing came six days later in a 1-0 win over Nantes, coming off the bench in the 83rd minute. N’Koudou hasn’t featured since due to injury and there are only six games to go.

He’s been out of action for two months and will return to Tottenham with his stock even lower than when he left. The 24-year-old’s contract has two years to run, but N’Koudou is expected to be sold this summer. Monaco confirmed earlier in April that the wide-man is ‘in care’ and doing ‘specific re-training’ but gave no possible return date.
