Explained: Statistics reveal why Mauricio Pochettino deserves the sack at Tottenham

|

Mauricio Pochettino recently held crisis talks with Daniel Levy and is expected to part company with Tottenham after five years. The 47-year-old has presided over 513 matches, winning 236 times, but things have fallen apart in 2019.

Despite Tottenham reaching the EFL Cup semi-finals and Champions League final last season, their form during the second half of the campaign left a lot to be desired and is why Pochettino is nearing the end in North London. Spurs’ form continuing to spiral is the nail in the coffin.

In 2019, Tottenham have played 30 Premier League games and amassed a paltry 40 points (1.33-per-game). The Lilywhites have 11 wins, seven draws and 12 defeats. They haven’t won away from home since January either, suffering nine defeats and three draws from their last 12 league games on the road.

Is Pochettino still the right man for Tottenham Hotspur?

Yes, absolutely!

No way, Poch out

Pochettino was certainly hamstrung by Daniel Levy’s failure to offload Tottenham deadwood over the summer, but their form has been bad all year. And with Danny Rose, Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld & Christian Eriksen set to run their contracts down, Spurs could be in bad shape next season.
