Martin Jol has said that the whole of England should be proud of what is happening at Spurs as he proves you can take the youngest and best English talent and form a team capable of challenging.
He also refers to a certain other team who have taken the opposite approach and failed to field a single English player during some of their Champions League games!
He said: ‘I spent four years in England a while ago as a player, so I know how important it is to keep an English dressing room and to promote English talent. That doesn’t mean I am critical of foreign players because I know how they have improved the standard here and done a very good job. But last week in the Champions League there wasn’t a single English player and that is strange and worrying. That is why I think everyone in England should get behind us and be proud that we’ve got an English team with some foreign players thrown in.’
Seems Sir Alex Ferguson is also impressed with the direction that the White Hart Lane outfit is taking.
Sir Al told the Manchester United official site: ?There has been a turnaround at Tottenham. They have invested in their team. Over the years they have always bought players, but they did much more in the summer than they have done in my time here. There is intent there.’
