Mr Levy, if you truly harbour aspirations for Tottenham Hotspur to become an elite top four Premiership club, and hold realistic hopes of ever achieving those ambitions, you must resist any temptation to sell the family silver, no matter how much profit may be lying alluredly naked on the table, or indeed no matter which Greeks come bearing gifts at the White Hart Lane front door.

We need our team to be playing regularly and consistently in the great football stadia of Europe, and you are currently the only man who holds the key to unlocking those dreams.

The treasures I am of course referring to are the players who can help us achieve those aims. This would certainly include the likes of Luka Modric and Aaron Lennon.

These are two players who will undoubtedly attract a great deal of interest in the Summer most likely dare I say from the usual suspects who have a history and a tendency to sniff around our squad looking for likely conscripts.

The two major culprits with form to boot are Alex Ferguson of Manchester Utd and Rafa Benitez of Liverpool, and even at this early stage we are in the throes of press stories outlining our greatest fears.

You must without hesitation send them packing with a flea in their proverbial ear in order to allow our current manager Harry Redknapp to get on with his number one priority:- building a team that may one day challenge the best of them.

Anything less than this approach would be a dereliction of your duty and could cost us yet another manager and more unnecessary years spent in the wilderness.

Back your man with the cash to achieve our aims and it is conceivable that you may yet one day go down in Tottenham folklore and deserve a statue in your honour just like the legend that is ‘Sir’ Bill Nicholson.
