Does Ramos Mind the Mind Games?

The football season may well not yet have started, but we are certainly well into the silly season.

This is the time of year when Managers and Directors of the so called big clubs employ all manner of dirty tricks and psychological mind games to try and upset the preparations of any club they deem to be a threat to them in the forthcoming domestic matches.

Our own club Spurs, and also the Villa, seem to have been singled out for this treatment. This can be validated by efforts made to unsettle our star players by openly courting them with promises of great success and vast fortunes.

These seduction techniques have resulted in us prematurely losing our Vice Captain and goalscorer Robbie Keane, who has opted to join Benitez at Liverpool(apparently his boyhood team)while Gareth Barry from Villa also appears to be hot on his trailblazing heels.

Tragically too, our other star striker, enigmatic Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov pines for the bright lights of Old Trafford.

His head has also been turned, this time by that old red nosed bugger Fergie, who, by the way, has also quite brazenly cast admiring glances in the direction of our No 2 Gus Poyet in the hope that he may give the nod and step into the identical vacant role at the Mancs Theatre of Dreams.

Meanwhile, Kenyon at Chelsea has had the audacity to bleat on about how it is not the obligation of the top 4 to dumb down, but the responsibility of the rest of us to attempt to catch up.

This begs the question of how we are supposed to do just that if they employ such underhand strategies and tactics to hinder our development.

Typically, during all of this Juande Ramos has remained diplomatically calm and quiet like the old pro that he is.Neither, it seems, does it appear to have affected his team building and preparations for the new season.

I just hope that it is not merely because he, being from foreign shores, has not fully understood what pre-arranged dramas have taken place, and consequently is blissfully unaware that this foreplay is a charade that we are forced to inevitably go through annually.
