Tottenham Hotspur were given the Sunday afternoon slot for our latest Premier League clash against Newcastle United and with their new manager, Steve Bruce, struggling most assumed this would be another three points for Mauricio Pochettino’s charges.
Despite dominating large parts of the play, come the half time mark in the game, Newcastle had a slight advantage as they opened the scoring in the 27th minute. We’d only managed to get one effort on target at that point though, so we needed a big second 45.
We didn’t really get it and having lost 1-0, despite still majorly dominating the game, we could find no way through and by the full-time whistle, we had actually only tested their goalkeeper properly on two occasions.
We did create the chances though, the problem was the composure to finish them off but given relative form, not even taking a point from this one has to be disappointing as we fall to our first defeat of the year.
