While Tottenham Hotspur’s return to competitive action still remains a couple of weeks away yet, details of a behind-closed-doors friendly at the club’s Hotspur Way training ground have been revealed by Football.London.
Indeed, Spurs will take on Scottish side Motherwell on Friday afternoon in order to take their mid-season training to the next level by drilling some match fitness into their players.
Although Ivan Perisic, Eric Dier, Harry Kane, Richarlison, Cristian Romero, and Hugo Lloris remain in Qatar on international duty with their respective nations Croatia, England, Brazil, Argentina, and France, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Pape Matar Sarr, Heung-min Son and Rodrigo Bentancur have recently returned home following their countries’ recent exits from the tournament.
However, those players will be given an extended leave of absence following their international exertions. Nevertheless, Antonio Conte still has several players to choose from to take on Motherwell, including Fraser Forster, Japhet Tanganga, Matt Doherty, Yves Bissouma, Oliver Skipp, Dejan Kulusevski, Bryan Gil, Davinson Sanchez, Lucas Moura, Emerson Royal, Djed Spence, and Ryan Sessegnon to name but a few.
It will therefore be interesting to see which players turn out against the Scottish outfit, and what stage of fitness those who did not travel to Qatar are at.
