A resounding 72% said Mido, subject of much debate on this site in the past week! Only 13% said both Mido and Defoe with Robbie Keane on the bench and the remaining 15% said they would rather Jermain Defoe.
Defoe is quoted in the papers as saying he is desperate for some first-team action to push for a World Cup place with England.
‘It’s normal for me to worry about the England squad because if I’m not playing I can’t show people what I can do,’ adding: ‘People are not talking about me. I’m not scoring goals. I’m not at the top of the scoring charts like I was last year and I miss seeing my name there. But every day I wake up in the morning and think how close the World Cup’s getting.’
He also admits ‘It’s not been easy. But you have to be professional.’
Well, whether he starts or comes off the bench today, lets hope he ends our Chelsea hoodoo with a goal or two, that would go down very nicely.
