Chelski and Tottenham are reportedly in negotiations which will see Wright-Phillips come to the Lane, while Defoe leaves for Stamford Bridge.

This story was bouncing around in the summer, with Chimbonda also reportedly going to Chelsea, while £10 million would head our way.

But now in the Sun, the £10 million and Chimbonda part has vanished, instead it is a swap deal for Defoe and Wright-Phillips.

According to the paper, the only snag in the deal is Tottenham’s valuation of Defoe, which suggests that the move would be Defoe and cash, for England winger Wright-Phillips.

Strangely this is probably Wright-Phillips’s best start to a season since joining Chelsea. He has played in every game so far and has looked dangerous for Mourinho’s men.

So is the story a dud, or has Mourinho only been putting Wright-Phillips in the shop window?
