The Danny Rose transfer saga takes an embarrassing turn

|

Danny Rose looked on his way out of Tottenham this summer after falling down the pecking order, being denied a squad number and training away from the first-team, but he failed to find a suitor and looked resigned to stay in North London until January.

Rose has been offered an embarrassing lifeline, however. According to The Sun, Norwich City, Bournemouth and Brentford are favourites to sign 30-year-old, but it remains to be seen if a move materialises before the Football League transfer window shuts on Friday.

Is Rose resigned to petering out?

Sadly, it appears so. His relationship with Tottenham couldn’t be any worse after his form dipped and he went public with criticism of the club. Rose has been unable to find himself another club either, despite it being clear he wouldn’t be a part of Jose Mourinho’s squad, so he’s now going to rot in the reserves.

Newcastle United, Genoa, West Ham United, Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Brighton & Hove Albion have been linked with Rose, but he’s still here and Football.London believe he may be content sitting on his contract for its final year.

The England international’s last appearance for us came in January and he finds himself behind Sergio Reguilon, Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon, but might Rose be too prideful to seek interest from a Championship club?

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Newcastle but may scoff at the idea of dropping down a division as he still believes he has plenty to offer at the top level.

This saga is sad

Rose was one of the best left-backs in the Premier League and once had interest from Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Manchester United, but he can’t even find a club willing to loan him for the season now. Rose’s deal with Tottenham is up next year and there’s no chance he’ll extend his contract, so we’re coming to the end of an era.

Time will tell if one of the aforementioned Championship clubs make a move. It also remains to be seen if Rose changes his mind on leaving.

Who is Joe Rodon? How much will he cost? What can Tottenham fans expect?

It’s sad to see such a great servant for Spurs receiving the treatment he has, Mourinho in his wisdom preferred Ben Davis over Rose, not a lot of supporters ever did, and I can’t blame Rose for the way he spoke out, fair play to him but Mourinho and Levy’s subsequent treatment towards him was out of order, he still has a lot to offer and I hope some other prem. Club comes in for him on a free when his contract expires.

Brett Davies – Seriously ? Rose is a shadow of the player he once was and Steve Bruce at Newcastle could see that just as well as Mourinho. Some fans of course see the player he was rather than the player he has become, some fans always do. The irony given your comments is that if Rose had a similar attitude to Ben Davies he would probably have a few more years left in his footballing life. But he hasn’t and seems to be going down the Bosnich road and just taking the money while the contract lasts. The idea that any premier league team will be interested in him seems frankly ludicrous.
