Croatian Star Sparks Transfer Scramble With Spurs Among Interested Parties

|

Mateo Kovacic has made it known that he wants to leave Real Madrid this summer, with both us and Manchester United keen on signing the player, according to the Sun.

The Croatian international says he is keen to get regular first-team football, and he is willing to leave the Bernabeu to get it. He was quoted by Marca as saying:

“I want to play more and the best thing is to leave Madrid. I love football and being on the pitch, I want the opportunity to be a starter for another team.”

Last season, he made 36 appearances in all competitions for Real but made just 20 starts under manager Zinedine Zidane.

Kovacic would likely be a candidate to replace Mousa Dembele if the Belgian international leaves the club. The 24-year-old plays in a central midfield role, but is also capable as a holding midfielder.

His key strengths in passing, dribbling and through balls would make him a good fit for replacing our no.19. The cost of the deal would likely be high with Real reluctant sellers, as well as competition from other clubs.
