Could Levy Have Won Out – Rumoured Spurs Target Now Available For A Snip £18m Fee

|

Earlier this year Tottenham Hotspur were reasonably heavily linked with a move for Napoli midfielder Amadou Diawara.

The 21-year-old Guinea international made 21 appearances for former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti at Napoli in the 2018/19 campaign after recovering from injury but it’s long been rumoured that he had fallen out of favour.

The initial speculation was sparked by the sale of Mousa Dembele and many in the media made the Diawara link as a Mauricio Pochettino type of signing as a potential replacement. With the ‘fallen out of favour’ rumours gaining pace, it was originally said that despite rejecting bids in excess of £40million for him, a bid in that offer would be more than acceptable to them, but a report from Calcio Napoli 24 this week (as well as rounding up the previous speculation) has claimed that things have deteriorated drastically and Napoli would now be willing to accept just 18million Euros to get him off their books.

In terms of taking a gamble, that fee sounds far more sensible to me given his age and relative experience and I guess we’ll find out if the original speculation was on the ball, as with that kind of reduction we’d surely jump at it if the interest was genuine.
