‘Class’, ‘Quality’, ‘Beautiful’ – some fans react as Tottenham confirm club-record signing

|

Tottenham confirmed the signing of Tanguy Ndombele on Tuesday afternoon and some fans took to social media to share their delight in the news. The former Olympique Lyonnais midfielder was a club-record signing and agreed a six-year deal with Spurs.

Ndombele is arguably an update on Mousa Dembele and could have a bright future at the club given his skill-set – combative player, adept at driving with the ball from deep and highly-creative. Tottenham paid £65m for his signature and supporters were thrilled to see the transfer record broken.

After waiting more than 500 days for a new signing, Spurs landed two within four of each other on Tuesday. Jack Clarke was brought in from Leeds but will spend 2019/20 on loan at his former club, while Ndombele will go straight into the first-team.

Selling Mousa Dembele in January would have been forgiven if Tottenham had brought in a replacement, but the lengthy wait for another midfielder likely irked many given the injury woes in midfield at the turn of the year.

Nevertheless, signing Ndombele is a step in the right direction and fans should be happy seeing Tottenham going all out to sign a coveted target.
