Christian Eriksen responded to rumours that he could leave Tottenham, dismissing the recent stories in the media. The Danish international’s contract has 18 months to run but he’s yet to put pen to paper on an extension and could be on his way out of the club amid interest from Real Madrid.
As per the Daily Mail, Eriksen was quick to play down such talk of a departure and rubbished their claims of a summer exit, saying: “There are so many reports. Don’t believe them, not from what I know anyway”. The 26-year-old’s form has hit new heights in the last 12 months, leading to interest from the biggest clubs in Europe.
Tottenham will be left with a difficult decision to make if they allow Eriksen’s contract to tun down until its final year. Spurs risk losing the midfielder for nothing in 2020 or they could cash in on his signature before his value drops too much.
Eriksen has made 239 appearances in all competitions for the Londoners since his 2013-move from Ajax, scoring and creating 130 goals. The 26-year-old was a regular before suffering an injury, starting in their first six league games this season, but he’s only racked up 41 minutes of playing time since mid-October.
Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino are desperate to keep Eriksen, but while his contract situation remains up in the air his future will be uncertain.
