“Cheaper Alternative” “Can Only Improve” – These Spurs Fans Like Reports Linking Us With 19 y/o Right Back

|

With plenty of talk about the right back spot at Tottenham Hotspur and the speculation on the rumour mill linking both Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier with possible moves away this summer, there have been a few links in and Norwich City’s Max Aarons seems to have gained a bit more traction this week.

With plenty of Trippier to X clubs abroad as previously covered, we’ve even had really left field links in like Marseille’s Hiroki Sakai.

We all know the speculation won’t go anywhere until someone is definitively sold or signed, but Aarons is an interesting one for me.

The 19-year-old certainly made a name for himself last season as Norwich took the Championship title to return to the Premier League and he was impressive across his 43 appearances – scoring twice and providing eight assists.

However, young and exciting Maximillian is the proverbial one season wonder so far, so suggestions manager Mauricio Pochettino would be interested in him as a Trippier replacement seem a little far fetched for me.

A long term replacement seeing who rises to the top out of him and Kyle Walker-Peters, maybe, but next season he won’t be an unknown quantity and much like Ryan Sessegnon, a first year in the top flight can be a different beast as a player develops.

Naturally, others disagree and see him as an alternative option to Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka with the bizarre fee £60million fee attached to him.
