Spurs Word On The Tweet

“Chance To Redeem Himself” – Heavily Criticised Spurs Player Takes Some Praise & Addresses His Future

|

Kieran Trippier was on a high over the summer given his exploits for England at the World Cup out in Russia, and he’s not the only Tottenham Hotspur player to struggle in the campaign of 2018/19 but he’s certainly become an easy go-to for criticism for some in the fanbase.

There’s no denying he’s had a poor year based on his own previous standards and with existing transfer rumour mill speculation linking him heavily with a move to Napoli, now the season is officially over following our defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League Final, I imagine the rumour mill will kick into an even higher level of utter nonsense this week.

With Trippier again taking plenty of criticism following the defeat, his message on social media post-game should certainly be well received, especially in light of his actions at the fulltime whistle despite the disappointment everyone felt.

You can clearly see what it meant and how it hurt but whether or not it was a goodbye is also open to debate, as Trippier’s own words following the game did seem to contradict the claims that a deal with Napoli was guaranteed.

“There is some speculation about my future. I don’t know. I’ll go home now and spend time with my family, and just recover from a long difficult season. Everyone has a decision to make no matter what player you are. Obviously this club have been very good to me over the last few years, but I’ll enjoy my summer, come back in pre-season and then that’s when I’ll sit down with the manager and have a talk about my future. I’ve seen a lot of speculation about me not being here. So obviously we will see what happens in pre-season.”

Adding.

“Of course I want to stay in England. But what can you do, and most importantly we will see what the club want. I give everything for this club, training sessions, games, so we will see what happens in pre-season.”
