Spurs manager Martin Jol has agreed that the winners of the UEFA Cup should get a shot at qualifying for the Champions League.

UEFA are currently considering changing how teams qualify for the tournament.

New UEFA President Platini has already suggested cutting down the English clubs in the competition from four to three.

Other suggestions which are more likely to be more welcome, would be the move to give one spot to the winners of the FA Cup and also give the winners of the UEFA Cup a chance to qualify for the Champions League.

When asked about a Champions League spot for the winners of the UEFA Cup Jol told Sky Sports News: ‘It would be a good idea, there are big teams and it’s a big competition’

And who would argue! It would boost the importance of the UEFA Cup and make the competition stronger than it currently is, but the move to give the FA Cup is an even better idea.

The FA Cup is the best competition in the world and if it had a Champions League spot up for grabs it really would spice up the competition!
