CEO Denies Contact With Spurs Man, But There Is An Interest

|

This week saw claims in the media that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele was on the verge of a £9million or £11million switch to Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan.

To save overly repeating the bulk of the speculation, I’ll link the previous article that deals with that.

Imminent £11million Move For Soon To Be Out Of Contract Spurs Man

The stories surfaced yesterday of the supposed imminent deal, but there has now been an uncategorical denial from China that contact has been made with the player – which would naturally happen if Spurs had accepted an offer as claimed.

Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur quoted the sides CEO Li Ming on social media earlier today.

I think the only thing that can really be taken from this clarification, is that with confirmation of a supposed offer on the table, the media have slightly jumped the gun on the speculation as the likelihood is we just haven’t decided ourselves yet.

Some fans will certainly be happy with this development as there’s a section in the fanbase that feel the fee is too low based on what a fit Dembele can still offer us, but for now it’s just one to watch.
