With the September international break almost at an end now, Tottenham Hotspur centre-half Toby Alderweireld certainly had reason to celebrate at the beginning of the week as he got himself on the scoresheet for Belgium, in their comfortable victory over Scotland.

Alderweireld hit their third goal on the day as they took a 4-0 European Championship Qualifying victory and his headed effort from a corner was quite impressive. Spurs would certainly take a few of them in the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign that’s for sure.

Sadly, given his contract situation and the doubts that remain about his future at the club and a potential move away, plenty of fans on social media took the opportunity the goal gave, to simply ask him again to sign a new deal and remain at White Hart Lane for a few more years.

Having found the net in the game, we simply have to hope it gives him a confidence shot and with injuries already hitting us this year, that helps the side click a little bit more when we look at the performances so far this season.

We’d definitely take a repeat of that on Saturday when we welcome Crystal Palace to home soil.
