Despite Tottenham falling short to Leicester on Saturday, Erik Lamela came away with praise from some supporters for his performance. The 27-year-old was finding a lot of space against the Foxes and created numerous chances before being withdrawn in the second-half.
Against City, Lamela played for 78 minutes, made 59 touches, created three chances, took one shot, made two clearances, won one aerial duel, completed 77.5% of his 40 passes, whipped in three crosses, made two tackles, drew one foul and had one successful dribble.
Lamela is having a brilliant first half finding lots of little pockets!! #coys #lamela #thfc #spurs #LEITOT

If I had to rank our best players so far this season, it’s very easy for me:
1. Lamela
2. Toby
3. WinksAny disagreement? Lamela needs to start all our big games. Eriksen not so much #thfc

I’m a Pochettino stan, but that managing was just bizarre. Lamela was terrific, why sub? Why Wanyama? Why Moura so late? We didn’t deserve 0, but we didn’t deserve 3. #coys #thfc https://t.co/P9T9G7Bm98

Lamela has enjoyed a bright start to the season, scoring and creating three goals in six Premier League appearances. Despite his injury woes of the past, the Argentine international has been a regular in 2019/20 and already has 464 minutes of football under his belt – already 48% of last season’s total in the league.
Fans are hoping Mauricio Pochetino will continue to stick with Lamela from the start as he was one of only a few players to come away with any praise against Leicester. Next up for Spurs are Colchester (EFL Cup) on Tuesday and Southampton (Premier League) on Saturday. Lamela may be rested for the midweek encounter to ensure he features on the weekend.
