“Breaking News” “Isn’t Rocket Science” – These Spurs Fans React As Star Addresses His Future

|

With little real news of note given the current pause in the football fixture list, the media are doing their best to keep us entertained with transfer rumours and interviews, and over the weekend Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Harry Kane sat down for a chat with Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp.

With the 26-year-old continuing his recovery from injury having been sidelined since the turn of the New Year, the topics covered in the interview weren’t exactly earthshattering, but Kane did again open up about his desire to win trophies before he hangs his boots up and that if Spurs weren’t progressing as a side, he would ultimately look to move on.

“It’s one of those things, I couldn’t say yes, I couldn’t say no. I love Spurs, I’ll always love Spurs. But it’s one of those things – I’ve always said if I don’t feel we’re progressing as a team or going in the right direction, then I’m not someone to just stay there for the sake of it. I’m an ambitious player, I want to improve, I want to get better, I want to become one of the top, top players. It all depends on what happens as a team and how we progress as a team. So it’s not a definite I’m going to stay there forever – but it’s not a no either.”

His words won’t come as a shock to Spurs fans, despite Sky Sports doing their best to present it as a major revelation, because it’s pretty much been his line for the last few years.

No, He'll Be Here Next Season

Yes, We Won't Spend Why Would He Stay

If there is anything to take from it, it’s very much a case of Kane leaving it in the clubs’ hands and that despite our drop in form over 2019 and the subsequent change of manager, he’s willing to see what ‘we’ do next to counter that before he makes any decisions of his own.

Especially as he goes on to praise the overall quality of the team, and talks about Jose Mourinho being given a proper pre-season to work on things. It won’t stop the speculation and once we know what’ll happen with this season, the rumour mill will be full of Kane stories once again, but he certainly doesn’t sound like someone with itchy feet…just yet.
