Martin Jol is expecting a battle today against Bolton and says playing them is difficult as they ‘can make life hell’.
Jol said, ‘You have to give them all credit for the way they developed.’
Sorry, but I don’t. Not the sort of football I admire and the fact they can’t fill their stadium despite their lofty position in the league illustrates even their own fans aren’t interested in the scruffy bully boy tactics!
Jol continued, ‘Over the years he has made them from a team struggling in the Premiership to contenders for European football. We invest in players and try to develop them, they go for the finished article or if they have problems somewhere. That can be a good philosophy. It’s not a coincidence that they are a very physical side. Even in England they can make it difficult for top teams like Arsenal. They can make life hell.’
And Bolton manager Sam Allardyce has told his players who have just returned from a training camp in Tenerife, not to take Spurs lightly.
Big Sam said ‘Spurs won at Everton in midweek but their home form has been the best part of their season. It is going to be difficult as always, but if we play to our best we will be a match for them. We have had some great results at Tottenham and were unlucky to lose there 1-0 last season. It was a great performance but the wrong result.’
