‘Best player on the park’ – some fans laud another Tottenham midfielder after Everton result

|

Tottenham were made to settle for a point against Everton on Sunday, but Tanguy Ndombele’s performance was one positive from the game. Dele Alli impressed and was praised by supporters on social media, but Ndombele was described as the ‘best player on the park’ after the first-half.

The 22-year-old wasn’t overly creative against Everton, but he worked hard turning over possession and helped to keep his opponents at bay. Ndombele saw a lot of the ball and often drove from deep, but he was brought off in the second-half by Mauricio Pochettino – a decision that supporters didn’t agree with.

Against Everton, the French international played for 72 minutes, made 54 touches, completed 81% of his 42 passes, made two interceptions, drew one foul and made three successful dribbles. Ndombele didn’t have the greatest impact in the final third, but he was bright in transition and provided much-needed energy in the middle of the park.

Was Mauricio Pochettino right to substitute Tanguy Ndombele?

Yes

No

Since his move from Olympique Lyonnais, Ndombele has made 12 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating five goals. He has all the attributes to be a top midfielder in the future, so fans are hoping Pochettino will give him the required time to shine.
