Spurs Word On The Tweet

‘Been our best player’, ‘Love this man’ – some fans praise Tottenham favourite after Southampton win

|

Heung-min Son came away with a lot of praise from supporters after Tottenham saw past Southampton 3-1 on Wednesday. The 26-year-old got himself on the scoresheet and could have had two goals for the night if not for the woodwork. Son has now scored and created six goals in 11 starts in all competitions this season. Fans were certainly delighted with his latest contribution.

Against Southampton, the South Korean international hit the target with two of his three shots and created two chances. His goal against the Saints was his second in three league games and helped Spurs leapfrog Chelsea and Arsenal – who dropped points to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United respectively – in the Premier League table. Tottenham are now third with 33 points from 15 games.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men aren’t fighting for the title, but they’re ensuring a top-four spot will be a formality come May after many feared the lack of summer signings and stadium delays would hamper them. As for Son, the forward has posted impressive league totals in his last two seasons – 14 in 23 starts (2016/17) and 12 in 27 starts (2017/18) – and it appears he’s finding his feet this campaign after much disruption.
