“Be Cheaper Just To Buy Ajax” – At Least This Transfer Link For Spurs Might Be Realistic

|

With Tottenham Hotspur’s season of 2018/19 seeing a fair amount of criticism levelled at players, a common trend has been the goalkeeping department with many developing doubts over French World Cup winner Hugo Lloris, and plenty more believing that Michel Vorm’s time with us should be over.

I’ve covered the calls for Paulo Gazzaniga to play a bigger part previously, and with some sensible comments about him growing to be our accepted Number 2 (he appears to have gone that way in recent weeks), there are those who rather bizarrely in my humble want Lloris out now.

Voetbal International may have come up with a compromise if there is any truth to this piece of recent speculation.

We are apparently tracking Ajax Number 1 Andre Onana.

The 22-year-old Cameroon international goalkeeper has come through Ajax’s famed youth Academy and despite his tender age, he boasts 92 senior appearances for them, including European experience. In 2018/19 he’s made 13 club appearances, three of which have come in the Champions League.

Out of a lot of blather I’ve seen in the media, this is actually a transfer I can see Spurs making given his future development potential.

Any deal would see the departure of Vorm for me, and he’d come in initially to challenge Gazzaniga for that backup spot with one of them winning out in a season or two for the Number 1 spot. It ticks the boxes in my mind and he already has a number of clean sheets under his belt this year which sweetens the deal.

The counter arguement remains, is there any truth to it?
