Hamburg playmaker Rafael van der Vaart has issues a thanks but no thanks to Tottenham and a number of other clubs courting his services this summer.
Van der Vaart told Dutch weekly Sportweek: ‘The interest has been there for some time already, but they (Tottenham) are not the club I want to go to. Tottenham are not a club I want to swap Hamburg for.
‘The chance that I will stay at HSV is really big. As long as no team comes by which makes me immediately excited, I see no reason to leave. And so far none of those clubs have called us.’
The 25 year old has an excellent scoring record of nearly 100 goals in 250 games for both club and country a statistic which would make a world-class striker proud.
I was surprised when van der Vaart joined Hamburg in the summer of 2005 and I am even more surprised that none of Europe’s big boys haven’t made him an offer to ‘excite him.’ Anyone who has watched him for either club or country knows he is one of Europe’s finest players and one who should be playing on the biggest stage.
Sadly it looks like that stage wont be White Hart Lane……..
