Another Day Another Spurs Transfer Link, But Left Back Does Have To Be Addressed

|

The Tottenham Hotspur fanbase can be a complicated thing at times, and the subject of left back at the club divides and unites in equal measure.

Whether it’s the form of England fullback Danny Rose or the comparative form of Welsh international Ben Davies, each has their supporters as well as detractors, and there are those who feel that manager Mauricio Pochettino should go for the third option of finding better than either.

Whilst still highly rated, Kyle Walker-Peters’ odd appearance on the left hand side hasn’t convinced many he’s the answer.

With another dull and boring international break this month, transfer speculation has kicked up a gear and there has been a return to speculation that we are looking at 23-year-old Benfica left back Alex Grimaldo.

We’ve been linked with the Spanish youth international before, but like so much speculation at White Hart Lane, nothing ever came of it. With the position continuing to be under debate though, I can see why some fans on social media think he’d be the perfect answer – given the little I actually know about him. He seems to tick the right boxes, but as ever, if Pochettino does have an interest surely it comes down to the kind of fee that would be demanded.
