After a great first half, what went wrong for you in the 2nd half?

You just hit us with a sucker punch within two minutes of second half (Dawson goal) and it seemed to shake our confidence before we could settle. I thought at 2-1 up we still came back at you before you killed it off with another two quick goals. Defensive blunders on our part didn`t help I think after that we did well to contain you and prevent a total humiliation. If only we could have got a second goal our task tomorrow night might not have seemed so daunting. Still think 4-1 flattered you really based on our first half performance when I thought we were awesome

What can you do to claw the game back, if anything?

Spurs complacency could be our best chance

It really is a mountain to climb for the Clarets though. The first goal will be the most important and that will have to be the Clarets scoring it if we are to stand any chance. We best Arsenal 2-0 at Turf Moor and I think we have to reach that score line again to put Spurs under pressure. If we could do that with 15-20 minutes to go, anything could happen and Spurs could panic.

This will be your 6th game since the 3rd of Jan, and your form has suffered since beating Arsenal, has this competition taken the teams eye off the bigger prize of promotion?

I don`t think so. I think our major problem has been our small squad, where tiredness, injuries and suspensions have taken their toll.

We have lost four league games on the trot. In the first three we were terrible so no excuses. The fourth against Preston, I think we outplayed them and lost due to two dodgy penalties against the run of play. We have to hope the team that turns out on Wednesday night plays like the one that did against you at the Lane only this time for the full 90 minutes. We will have played nine games though by the end of January and every team has a bad run and we are in ours. We have to hope our bad run quickly comes to an end starting on Wednesday night!

Assuming you go out of the Carling cup, will this be a positive or negative to the rest of your season?

It is difficult to know what effect missing out on a chance to play at Wembley at the last hurdle might have on the lads. Just hoping some of our star players won’t then try to leave in the Jan window too. We just have to get over it if we don`t win and focus on the play-offs.

We are also still in the FA Cup and play WBA at the Hawthorns this Saturday. This was taking second fiddle in the eyes of Clarets fans but the result of that game could equally now be important in terms of team confidence. Out of two Cup competitions in a week and sliding down the Championship table would be an horror scenario.

Prediction for Wednesday?

I have taken this from my match preview. Sums up my feelings I think!!

‘I have to say 3-0 but I will be happy if we just win if we can`t get the required number of goals. Not many Championship sides (if any) will be able to say they beat four Premier League sides in a game of football all in the same season. The scalps of Fulham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs would look good in the trophy room but the Carling Cup would look even better .Come on you Clarets!
