Alleged deal will benefit Tottenham and Pochettino in more ways than one this summer – Opinion

Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be in an excellent position to sign Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos on loan this summer.

AS (via Sport Witness) are claiming Spurs and Los Blancos are thought to have reached an agreement about a season-long loan deal for the midfielder as the Spanish giants continue to decide about his long-term future with them.

And, that is a deal that could be perfect for us in more than one way if there is any truth to the rumour.

We are big advocates regarding a move for Ceballos as we have written on Vital Spurs a number of times, however, a loan deal is something that could benefit us even more than a permanent one may initially do.

Taking a look at his stats from this summer’s Under-21 European Championships, the 22-year-old certainly looks to be the part. According to WhoScored, Ceballos was brilliant for Spain as he managed an average of 3 shots per game, 2.8 key passes, 3.8 completed dribbles, 2 tackles and 1 interception which would benefit us in a new-look midfield following Tanguy Ndombele’s arrival (club’s official website).

He could work in tandem with the France international as he would be more willing to get forward and into the final third, whilst he also has the defensive qualities that can help Ndombele out should he decide to make a lung-bursting run forward as well.

As mentioned, a loan could be perfect as not everybody manages to excel in the Premier League and a season could help to give us and Mauricio Pochettino an idea as to whether he would be worth trying to splash the cash for the year after.

Obviously, there is a chance that an excellent campaign could backfire on us as Real Madrid may want a huge fee or want to bring him back, however, that could be a risk that we should take.

By not initially shelling out for him this summer, it would mean Daniel Levy and Pochettino still have the funds available to bankroll any other deals we have on our transfer list and continue to improve our squad further.
