Alderweireld Replacement Will Cost Spurs £35m According To Latest Reports

|

Linking Tottenham Hotspur with potential moves for centre-halves in the January transfer window or as an alternative, next summer, is pretty standard fare for the rumour mill given the ongoing speculation about Toby Alderweireld, and we had a new one yesterday – Sampdoria’s Joachim Andersen.

I don’t believe I’ve seen any speculation linking us with the 22-year-old Dane previously, so the youngster is a fresh name for me.

With recent reports suggesting that Spurs have now activated Alderweireld’s extension, it does mean the £25million release fee comes into play for a period of the summer when we get that far, so it’s obvious that we will have some kind of back up in place even if those plans are shelved for now until we see how things develop.

But Joachim does sound plausible given what we’ve seen of manager Mauricio Pochettino previously. He’s the right age to develop further, he’s a Danish international with 16 caps for his country so far, and he’s a ballplayer from reading around.

Having moved from Eredivisie side FC Twente to Serie A back in 2017, he’s definitely established himself in their first team this season and he could be a name to remember according to the Independent.
