Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to the news on Twitter that Ben Davies is close to signing a new deal with the club in a positive fashion.

According to a report by The Daily Mail, the 26-year-old is set to be handed a new contract to keep him at Spurs for another five years.

It is also claimed within the report that the Wales international could also become Mauricio Pochettino’s first choice left-back in the upcoming campaign, as Danny Rose is one of a number of men thought to be available for sale this summer.

Davies is currently undergoing rehabilitation after undergoing the knife last month, as he had to have surgery on one of his groins after feeling discomfort in it for the majority of the season (The Sun), although it did not bother him enough to take a break from playing.

However, his total recovery time is thought to be around six weeks, meaning he should be back just in time for pre-season.

Fans have been reacting to the news on Twitter in a positive fashion regarding the news that he will be handed a new contract and it would appear many welcome the club’s decision to extend his stay further.

Some stated that Davies was a ‘good back up option to have’ whilst one supporter mentioned that the 26-year-old was the ‘perfect example of a professional’.

  • He gets the job done. Whether playing left back, left wing back or left side of the central defence he does his job. You need players like that in your squad or you need oil money.

  • Yes, Ben is an excellent squad player and versatile in being able to cover both CB and LB spots. A model professional also. Happy to keep him at the club, although on current form Danny Rose is deservedly the starting LB.

  • Good to have Ben around for next 5 years, a steady LB & his been very loyal to us & never complains when Danny’s playing. COYS
