Spurs Word On The Tweet

A Throwaway Sentence In The Press Does Not Constitute A Transfer Rumour

In the report re-linking Juan Foyth with Leeds United but this time as a January loan target, there was also a throwaway line suggesting Tottenham Hotspur had been watching Blackburn Rovers attacking midfielder Bradley Dack.

After a fantastic spell at Gillingham where he took plenty of headlines, the 24-year-old made the switch to Ewood Park and helped them to promotion back to the Championship and he’s been in phenomenal form in the second tier so far this year.

His overall Blackburn record is 55 appearances with 26 goals returned and so far in 2018/19, he’s taken in ten appearances, returning a whopping eight goals.

To my knowledge, Spurs are about the eighth club he’s been linked with and whilst I thoroughly believe he’d potentially be a cracking signing and that he’s more than got the raw talent to step up to the Premier League (and he undoubtedly will), 24 words at the bottom of a report does not make a transfer rumour – especially when the bulk of the report on a different subject, is speculative guesswork at best.

Quite why it received reactions like this or was even taken seriously, is utterly beyond me.

Not like we’ve unearthed a gem before is it?
