“A Risk He Had To Take” “Had A Good Game” – Spurs Youngster Impresses Despite Awkward Wolves Situations

|

Centre-half Juan Foyth’s commanding performance against West Ham United in the EFL Cup saw manager Mauricio Pochettino reward him with a start against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday evening.

It was a mixed performance from the young lad and the headlines from the game will note his involvement in both penalties being conceded that made far more of a game of it than it probably should’ve been given our early goal advantage.

Quite pleasingly I think, the reactions on social media were positive and acknowledged that the 20-year-old is continuing to learn his trade and ultimately mistakes happen in the game. Plenty also thought he could’ve been given greater protection at points from more senior members of the side.

In any event though, it was only the second appearance of the season for the Argentine and he’ll learn far more from a game like that than he would an easy ride in defence. With his Premier League debut out of the way if there were slight nerves underlying his errors, that shouldn’t be a problem next time either.

Good post game praise from Poch as well.
