“A Late Victory But So Important” To Spurs According To This Man

|

Fresh from a Barcelona confidence boost and progression in the 2018/19 Champions League campaign, Tottenham Hotspur took to the Wembley pitch once again earlier this afternoon as we welcomed Burnley to our temporary home.

With injuries again robbing us of some players, and doubts over others, the match was another opportunity for Spurs to simply keep themselves ticking along in the Premier League and keep ourselves ahead of Chelsea, whilst also trying to close that gap on the two teams above.

Burnley put up a very resilient fight though and although we clearly had the better of the game, we only managed to test their goalkeeper on three occasions. Having come on in the second half, Christian Eriksen’s effort in stoppage-time gave us all three points and another hard-fought victory to put a smile on the faces of fans.

Speaking to the BBC as he met with the media to give his instant reaction to the match, Mauricio Pochettino said.

“It is a very good week for us and a fantastic win for us today. It is so important to be focused and try to keep our energy. After the Barcelona game and qualifying for the next stage of the Champions League, it is difficult to find the way to perform like this. Today I congratulate my players’ effort and the fans. It was a late victory but so important for us.”

The players have definitely earned a day off!
