The club are apparently looking to bring in Boca Juniors midfielder Wilmar Barrios. The Independent report that the 24-year-old is a “priority” for us this summer.
Reports coming out of Argentina and his native Colombia reported last week that a deal was already in place for the Colombian international to make the switch to London.
However, the Independent say that no club has met the Boca player’s release clause, but that could change in the coming weeks. Fans on Twitter reacted to our reported interest in Barrios:
We took a chance with Dier and Dele, so why not do it with this lad? It’s only like £11/12m so there’s not much to lose. His value will rise as soon as he joins us anyway.
Tells me a lot if poch has personally asked for him, must have a clear idea of what he wants in him.

Agreed, Poch knows far more about the South American leagues than most of us on here.

Precisely mate, I mean there’s more of a chance of him “failing” in a spurs shirt but the odds were heavily against Dier and Dele and looked what happened. Don’t get anywhere in football if you don’t take risks my friend

Verdict:
Like most, I haven’t seen the Colombian play yet, although I will be watching when his side face Japan in the World Cup tomorrow afternoon.
Barrios is very much a midfield destroyer and has only really made a name for himself over the course of last season.
Before the World Cup, it was believed the midfielder was keen on staying at Boca, but things could quickly change as the summer progresses.
