“A Bit Strange” – Former Player Questions Spurs Stars Lack Of Involvement Under Mourinho & Offers An Explanation

|

Former Tottenham Hotspur fullback Alan Hutton has been speaking recently about the club and new manager Jose Mourinho’s selection choices, and he feels that with Danny Rose coming out previously and stating that he would simply be running his contract down, Mourinho may still be questioning his commitment to the club.

Earlier in November Rose was back in the press where he insisted claimed summer bids for him were ‘rubbish’ and that he had no intention of going anywhere until his deal expired and with fans already knowing that Mourinho made a point of mentioning Christian Eriksen’s commitment – it’s understandable as to why the former Scottish international has made the same leap with Rose, especially given his lack of involvement so far.

Speaking to Football Insider this week, he explained.

“He has come out and said he’s going to run his contract down. I’m sure Mourinho’s had a chat with him, just as he did with Eriksen, to see where his head’s at. Maybe that conversation came out with: ‘I’m running my contract down and I want to leave.’ If that has been said, maybe Mourinho’s said: ‘Well that’s it, you’re not really going to play.’ I found it a bit strange Vertonghen played there and Rose was on the bench. When I first saw it I thought is he injured as well? I wonder if there’s been conversations had and they’ve decided to try another option.”

We’ll have to see what the next few matches bring as Eriksen remains involved to a greater extent, but Rose may get his chance again.
