News: Tottenham international star’s injury not as bad as first feared

|

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Hugo Lloris has not suffered a break of any kind in his arm after he was substituted early on in the game against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The French captain suffered a horror fall after he spilled a cross that led to Neal Maupay’s opener.

The 32-year-old landed on his left arm and then left the pitch on a stretcher with an oxygen mask on his face.

The fear was that Lloris had suffered a fracture, but his club confirmed that he has dislocated his elbow, though there is no timescale for his return.

This is a boost to Spurs as it looked like a serious injury, but the Frenchman should be back sooner than expected.

Lloris’ injury looked horrible, and I hope he recovers well, but it came from another mistake from the usually reliable 32-year-old.

This was the second in the space of a week, and in between that, he conceded seven goals to Bayern Munich – so not a great seven days for the former Lyon man.

Although Spurs will be pleased Lloris’ injury is not as bad as first feared – his absence from the team could give Paulo Gazzaniga a chance to stake a claim for the number one spot.
