3 transfer Plan B`s for Tottenham?

With Toby Alderweireld seemingly holding out for better contract terms than is being offered by the club, the Times believes that the Belgian international could be sold in the summer – with Poch willing to let him leave.

With our No.4 possibly on his way out, we will have to consider a replacement. It won`t be easy to find somebody who could fill the 28-year old`s shoes, but I`ve come up with a list of three possible targets we could realistically go after at the end of the season.

Stefan de Vrij

One of the standout Bosman free transfers on the market, the Dutchman is in high demand right across Europe with Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool all linked with him. The centre back has bags of experience, having been a mainstay in Holland`s backline for a number of years.

He has had to recover from a number of serious injuries, but he has stayed mostly fit for the past two seasons, becoming an integral player for Lazio.

The Serie A club were reluctant to let the player leave at the end of his contract, but a dispute with the defender`s agent means he can be snapped up for nothing. He is certainly a likely candidate to replace Toby unless someone else signs him first.

Kalidou Koulibaly

Another top-class talent in Serie A who has helped Napoli to the top of the table. Maurizio Sarri`s side have conceded just 15 goals in 26 games, and have lost just once in the league this season.

The Senegalese international has played the full 90 minutes in all but one of those matches, and has been a commanding presence at the back for the Italian side.

He would be very costly though with the club`s president Aurelio De Laurentiis having stated a couple of years ago they had rejected a £58m bid from Chelsea for the player.

Matthijs de Ligt

If Poch is looking for potential then he doesn`t have to look any further than the 18 year old Ajax defender. He has been on Barcelona`s radar, and he is certainly one for the future.

The Dutchman would certainly not be a direct replacement for Toby but he already has struck up a partnership with one Spurs player. His former team mate Davinson Sanchez is already at the club.
