12 Players Set For An Exodus As Pochettino Looks To Rebuild Spurs Over The Summer

|

As last week came to a close, reports claimed that Tottenham Hotspur were willing to let 12 players leave over the summer with it believed that manager Mauricio Pochettino wanted a significant rebuild of his first team playing staff so we could kick on to a new level now we are firmly back at home at White Hart Lane.

I think the original report came from the Evening Standard but as you can imagine, it quickly gained traction on line.

The 12 players namechecked by the report were Kieran Trippier, Serge Aurier, Danny Rose, Toby Alderweireld, Vincent Jansson, Fernando Llorente, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, Victor Wanyama, Erik Lamela, Moussa Sissoko, Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen.

Some of those names are obviously more likely than others in my humble given the relative speculation about them already this season, and their current standing in the pecking order, but with no arrivals over 2018/19 I think everyone accepts we will freshen up the group over the summer – but it remains to be seen if it’s that extreme.

The report states that Poch isn’t under pressure to ‘sell before (they) can buy’ but if he can streamline the squad and create some cash of his own, then it obviously gives us more wriggle room to ensure we snare his fresh targets.
